We managed to get our first level of local compute set up over the past week! It was a fun exercise, as none of us had built a computer from scratch before. Luckily, other than some searching for the fan headers and finding the active DP port, every thing else seemed to go smoothly.

The most important component was having lots of RAM (192 GB!) which should allow us to comfortably process any upcoming datasets, as well as a reasonable number of cores (24 + 8) to allow for a limited degree of parallelization.

We're all looking forward to having some recordings soon to analyze on the machine.
